U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins announced this week Concord University received a grant for first generation college students.
The $266,000 grant is from the U.S. department of Education. In a phone interview, he told 59News the grant will go toward renewing funding for the schools Robert E. Mcnair post Baccalaureate Achievement Program.
"This is great news and recognition for the great work they're doing at Concord throughout Southern West Virginia. This is keeping the ball rolling for students, keeping the opportunity to pursue their education, get a graduate degree and really make a mark in their life of opportunity.".
Jenkins added that the grant will also help low income college students receive their degrees as well.
