CHARLESTON -

A Presidential nomination puts the name of Lt. Michael Baylous up as a possible U.S. Marshal.

The current public information officer for the West Virginia State Police was nominated by the White House, Monday.

The nomination must be confirmed by members of the U.S. Senate.

One Senator from right here in West Virginia had this to say about the honor, "Lieutenant Baylous is an excellent choice to serve as U.S. Marshal in West Virginia's Southern District.   He has a long record of serving and protecting the people of West Virginia and a strong commitment to maintaining rule of law and public safety in our state.   I am hopeful that he will be swiftly confirmed for this much deserved position."

Baylous has been a member of the State Police since 1994.
