The Family Refuge Center in Greenbrier County along with community officials held a training on mandatory reporting. It was a day of learning for front line professionals and the public.
There were many resources and information provided on how to handle a situation when you suspect someone is being abused. In the state of West Virginia anyone over the age of 18 is a mandatory reporter.
This event was held because officials believed there was a need to educate the community.
"Over the summer we did see a greater need for that. We were running into organizations that are youth focused that wasn't making those mandatory reports," said Kenosha Davenport, Executive Director of Family Refuge Center.
If you have any questions about reporting child abuse you can contact The Family Refuge Center or your local Police Department.
