A Florida woman appeared in court on charges of attempting to conceal a dead body in Pocahontas County. Erica Newsome appeared for her preliminary hearing today. Her bond was kept at $50,000 or surety.
State police say, Newsome crashed her car near Route 250 Sunday morning- and that's when she allegedly tried to hide the body of her 11 year-old daughter. Troopers tell us Newsome was heading from Florida to Buffalo, New York where the child's father lives.
"The Magistrate found that there was sufficient evidence to establish probable cause that my client may have committed the charge she is charged with in Pocahontas County," said Dewitt Daniell, Assistant Public Defender
Newsome will be held at the Southern Regional Jail waiting for an indictment from the Pocahontas County Grand Jury or a request from the authorities in Florida to extradite
