9:53 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 UPDATE:

An armed and dangerous man is in custody just 24-hours after he committed a violent home invasion in Raleigh County.  Brandon Cantley is accused of robbing an elderly woman and her caregiver in the Rock Creek area on Tuesday morning.  

Troopers were tipped off that Cantley was seen coming out of the woods on Saxon-Bolt Road at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  He then went to a home there were several women and children and demanded a ride.  One of the victims agreed to take Cantley in order to get him away from the children.  She drove him to the Eccles Post Office where he jumped into another vehicle.  The driver of that vehicle tried to stop and remove the keys, then got out of the vehicle as two Raleigh County Sheriff's Deputies arrived.  Cantley was then taken into custody.

Cantley is facing a number of felony charges.  He is being arraigned in a Raleigh County courtroom on Wednesday afternoon.  State Troopers would like to thank the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department, the media and the public for their help.


9:11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 UPDATE: 

West Virginia State Police have released more information about an armed robbery that happened Tuesday morning. Troopers are still searching for Brandon Cantley. Investigators said he forced his way into the home of Gladys Ballard, 91, of Rock Creek. Cantley reportedly became physically violent with Ballard and demanded money. Ballard's caregiver came to the home during the incident and was also confronted by Cantley. 

Police said Cantley found a small pistol in the house and then further demanded money from both victims. The suspect reportedly took a small amount of money and then forced both victims inside an elevator lift inside the home and locked them inside of it. Police said Cantley stole other items from the residence, including a 2001 Gold Jeep Cherokee with WV registration 3NC465. 

Cantley is facing charges of kidnapping, strong armed robbery, battery, assault and wanton endangerment. If you have any information on Cantley's whereabouts, contact West Virginia State Police.


A home invasion robbery is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police and troopers are asking for help from the public to solve the case.  The home invasion happened at around 9 a.m. in the Rock Creek area of Raleigh County on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017.  

Brandon Lee Cantley is wanted for questioning in connection with the case.  Apparently two women were tied up during the robbery.  They have not been identified and troopers said they were not injured.  There is no word on what may have been taken.  Cantley was last seen driving a gold colored Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.  It has a West Virginia license plate with number 3NC645.  

Cantley is considered to be armed and dangerous.  People are advised not to approach him and call their local state police detachment or CrimeStoppers of West Virginia at 304-255-STOP (7867).  Tips can also be left at the CrimeStoppers web site or by using the P3 Tips App on a smart phone or mobile device. Rewards are available for information that leads to an arrest.
