Deveron Patterson pleads guilty to 1st Degree Muder in connection with the death of Kareem Hunter
A case that began almost a year ago lead to a guilty plea in Kanawha County court on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Deveron Patterson, 26, of Raleigh County pleaded guilty to a First Degree Murder charge in connection with the death of Kareem Hunter in Sept. 2013. Hunter had been missing for two months before his body was found in a shallow grave near Beckley, WV.
Earlier in 2014, Kelsey Legg pleaded guilty in connection with the same crime. Legg admitted to cleaning up the crime scene and attempting to help Patterson, and another suspect in the case Miguel Quinones, hide Hunter's body. Quinones is also charged with First Degree Murder. and Conspiracy.
A jury trial for Quinones is scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 27. According to Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney, Mark Plants, both Legg and Patterson are expected to testify in the trial.
