Fayetteville football preview: Pirates prepare to for 2014 season

Posted: Updated:
The Pirates finished 2013 with a 4-6 record and with eight seniors graduated there are plenty of positions to fill.

Head Coach Frank Spangler said that he has some skill players returning at quarterback and running-back.   A talented full-back will also be coming back this year.

Spangler has been with the Fayetteville program for years, and one of the reasons he comes back each year is to help the players improve, and that may have been the reason for a good turnout this year.

The Pirates have an open week the first week of high school football and will travel to Valley on September 5th.

It's really difficult to explain how BIG of a night it's going to be in Fayetteville this Friday. The undefeated Oak Hill Red Devils (4-0) travel north to battle the also undefeated Fayetteville Pirates (4-0) on Friday September 22nd at 7:30 at Fletcher Arritt Stadium.  As if two undefeated rivals wasn't enough, the game is also Homecoming Night for Fayetteville High School.
