20 person crew from the WV Div. of Forestry heads to California to help fight wildfires.
A crew of firefighters from the mountain state is headed to California to help with efforts to put out wildfires. According to a release from the West Virginia Division of Forestry, a 20-person wild land firefighting crew left Charleston on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014. The crew is made up of 16 WV Div. of Forestry staff members and four specially trained volunteer firefighters.
The crew drove from Charleston to Harrisburg, PA on Monday. From there they will fly to California on Tuesday. Which fire they will be fighting has not been determined yet.
"We have an excellent crew and we are proud to send them to California to represent West Virginia," said Randy Dye, State Forester.
