Plays to be shown at The Raleigh in honor of Dan Bickey and to benefit City of Beckley
Two plays to be shown at The Raleigh in honor of Dan Bickey and to benefit the city of Beckley
In honor of the late Beckley businessman Dan Bickey, a special benefit play will be shown next weekend at The Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre.
"The Miss Firecracker Contest" will be shown July 18 and 19 free of charge, but donations will be collected. All donations will go to the endowments Bickey established for the City of Beckley.
Dan Bickey's son, George Bickey, shared why he wanted to show a benefit performance.
"I thought it would be a great opportunity for us to benefit dad's endowments that he set up through the Beckley Area Foundation," George Bickey said. "All proceeds from these two shows goes towards that and I thought this would be a great way to honor him."
Seats will be given for both shows on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 7 p.m. both nights and Sir Walter's Tavern will be open for dinner at 5 p.m.
