WVU Parkersburg has highest graduation, retention rates, based on new WV CTCS data
New numbers from the West Virginia Community and Technical College System give high marks to West Virginia University Parkersburg.
The data ranks WVU Parkersburg with the highest completion and retention rates for two-year programs among the state’s nine public institutions. The numbers also show WVU Parkersburg with the second-highest unduplicated headcount and the lowest tuition and fees among schools.
“We have always prided ourselves in our ability to keep college affordable while providing high-quality programs and services,” WVU Parkersburg Interim President Rhonda Tracy said in a news release. “While we are pleased with how we compare to other colleges, we continue working to improve our completion and retention and increase overall success for our students.”
The CTCS released the data, which is from 2013, at its April 2013 board meeting as part of the annual reauthorization of two-year, degree-granting institutions. All institutions were reauthorized for one year at the meeting, according to a news release from WVU Parkersburg.
The West Virginia Legislature delegated the responsibility and authority for establishing, monitoring and maintaining quality standards of education at all two-year public and private institutions that offer associate degrees to the CTCS through Senate Bill 375, passed in 2011.
