Independence prepare for states, Greenbrier ready for Saints, 3 is the magic number

Friday marks the day high school baseball players have working for all season.  Many teams fell short of earning that trip to Charleston for the state tournament, but Independence will be representing Southern West Virginia in the semifinals against Fairmont Senior.
The Patriots had a close win over PikeView in the regional championship to send them to Power Park for the second year in a row.  Last year was Coach Scott Cuthbert's first year as head coach for Indy, and though they made it to the tournament, they lost in the first game to Herbert Hoover who won with a walk-off grand slam in the 7th inning.  This year, the team is motivated to make it farther and bring home the state title.  They said they appreciate all the fan support along the way.
"We're all really excited, just anxious to finally play. It's a great place to play in Power Park, you get to play where a minor league baseball team plays, theres going to be a lot of people there. The community will be out supporting us hopefully," said shortstop Wyatt Adkins.
"They've been really nice, we've had a good following and we take all the support we can get and it's nice of the community," added Cuthbert about the fans.
