Magistrate Ward Harshbarger has agreed to and signed the recommendations for discipline issued by the West Virginia Judicial Hearing Board.

The West Virginia Judicial Hearing Board recommended a fine be issued to Kanawha County Magistrate Ward Harshbarger.

Harshbarger is accused of and admitted to not following procedure when reviewing a Domestic Violence Protection order connected to a case involving Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants and his ex-wife.

Harshbarger also admitted to discussing the order with a police officer not involved in the case.

The board also recommended that Harshbarger pay for the costs to investigate the claim against him.

The West Virginia Supreme Court has not said whether it will accept the recommendation.
