POCA, W.Va. (AP) - Rite Aid plans to close its distribution center in Poca in 2016.
Rite Aid spokeswoman Ashley Flower tells media outlets that the company is focusing on improving operating efficiency.
She says upgrading and modernizing the 35-year-old distribution center would be cost prohibitive. The center employs about 250 workers, including members of Teamsters Local 175.
The union and the company have been negotiating a new contract since October 2013. Local 175 President Ken Hall tells media outlets that negotiations broke down on Thursday and Friday.
Flower says the company would continue to bargain with the union.
