The AB Intramural program at Alderson Broaddus University will once again host the TRI AB (triathlon training program).
This semester's training will culminate in a sprint distance triathlon race Sunday, April 27.
"This 12-week program includes group workouts, nutrition information and other fitness knowledge, while accomplishing its main goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle," said Lara Foster, TRI AB and Intramural Program Coordinator at Alderson Broaddus University.
This program is aimed at providing another fitness and recreational opportunity for the AB community. Individuals and relay teams are going to be challenged by the 600 meter swim, the 10 mile bike ride to the Barbour Lanes and the 5k run around the AB campus loop.
"Once they cross that finish line, our participants will feel a great sense of joy and accomplishment," said Foster. "We are proud of the community members who are taking on this challenge and we look forward to our weekly group workouts, informational sessions, and of course, race day!"
Nearby West Virginia Wesleyan College will also be participating in the event, bringing staff and students to volunteer, race and participate in the day's activities.
"We are excited to partner up with Wesleyan to help expand the influence of fitness and specifically, the sport of triathlon to central West Virginia," said Foster.
Anyone who wants to participate or volunteer for the event please should contact AB Intramural Program Coordinator Lara Foster at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On race day, volunteers will meet at the Pool/Coliseum at 8 a.m. to be placed at their stations. Snacks and beverages will be provided at the end of the race, and volunteers will have a chance to win TRI AB T-shirts.
