BECKLEY, WV -

A former branch manager has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Beckley to a rental scam that bilked his company of more than $90,000 in fees.
Mark Randall Trump, 43, of Cool Ridge, Raleigh County, faces up to 20 years in prison after admitting to wire fraud, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said.
Trump, who managed Cecil I. Walker Machinery Co.'s Crab Orchard, WV, full-line rental service store, offered certain customers special rates on equipment rentals without his company's authorization, who would then pay him directly with cash or a check. To cover up the scheme, Goodwin said Trump entered the customer data into Walker Machinery's computer system and printed a matching rental agreement, and when the equipment was returned would update the records to show the rental had been canceled, deleted from the system or not invoiced at all.
Goodwin said Trump collected roughly $90,000 in rental fees for his personal use. As a result of the fraud, he said the company incurred a loss of approximately $367,000.
Sentencing is set for April 17 before U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger.
