Woodrow Martin Smith, 63, of Ronceverte, also known as Marty, was arrested after being accused in a rape case. Investigators said Smith was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Smith was arrested on three counts of Third-Degree Sexual Assault. The victim, who just came forward in the last month, was underage at the time the sexual assault happened more than 30-years-ago.
Sources close to the case said the Troopers have not stopped working toward making an arrest in the case since day one.
Troopers said Smith admitted to the charges and he was released on $25,000 bond. Troopers also said that they believe there are more victims in the case who have not come forward. If anyone has information or believes they are a victim, they are asked to contact the West Virginia State Police Lewisburg Detachment.
