Teenager facing charges after bringing gun to school in Charleston, WV
A teenager may face expulsion and criminal charges after police found a gun on him at Capitol High School.
According to the Charleston Police Dept., the 16-year-old brought an unloaded 9mm handgun school. The teenager told police he found the gun while walking on Charleston's west side and put it in his backpack.
Sgt. George L. Henderson, with the Charleston Police Dept., said, "It's a very big deal, having a firearm on school property is about as serious as it can get. We charged him and he is in placement right now until his hearing."
Sgt. Henderson says this is the fourth weapon brought to school this year in the entire state of West Virginia.
