Four Raleigh County schools including Mabscott, Bradley, Crescent and Cranberry Elementary schools were on lock down during the early afternoon of Friday, Sept. 6
The Raleigh County Board of Education acted quickly to place four elementary schools in the county on lockdown Friday. The lockdown was lifted at around 2 p.m.
According to Superintendent Jim Brown, Mabscott Elementary, Crescent Elementary, Bradley Elementary and Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary schools were placed on a precautionary lockdown during the early afternoon hours. The action was taken after school administrators received a phone call from sheriff's deputies in Georgia. The call concerned a custody situation, but further details were not released.
Superintendent Brown said the information was relayed to local law enforcement. They then placed the schools on lockdown. Brown said that the students were not in any danger.
