Jalen Jones among strong senior cast at Oak Hill

This is Oak Hill's second year being a AAA school and last year they proved they could handle the bigger competition by making it to the playoffs, this year they expect no less.

"You can't win a state championship if you don't make the playoffs so my expectations are to make the playoffs," said head coach Eddie Souk.

The Red Devils return much of that talent that made it to the post-season.

"I think we've got 10 seniors, all these kids have been in the program now, this is the 4th year for all of them and they're doing a good job and hopefully are going to be leaders on this team," he added.

Among that senior cast is Jalen Jones. The senior running back rushed for over 2,000 yards with 25 touchdowns last season, landing him first team all-state honors.

"This year we want to get back there, go second round, go third round and get to a championship so that motivates us a lot," said Jones.

But, coach Souk knows it takes more than one standout player to win games.

"It's not a one man show, this is football, it's 11 people on the field at the same time and 11 people have to act as one out there," said Coach.

Jones says working together will be easy. "We got a lot of heart, to be a small AAA school to have about 35 to 40 kids out there, we have a lot of heart."

The Red Devils season opener is at Elkins August 30th.
