Inaugural simply jazz & blues festival to kick off in Summers County
The cliffs of the New River Gorge and hundreds of music fans can take part in Mountain State musical history as the Inaugural Suddenlink Simply Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off in Summers County August 23rd through the 25th.
This event evolved from the airwaves of the Beckley area radio show, "Simply Jazz and Blues", hosted by Lady D on Groovy 94.1, a Southern Communications Station.
The three-day event will feature Jazz, Blues, and Gospel artists from across the country. There are two stages for performances in an outdoor venue, Sandstone Drift Recreational Area, nestled near the banks of the New River near Sandstone Falls outside of Hinton.
There are nearly three-dozen musical acts converging on southern West Virginia to perform over the course of the festival. The headline acts include The Bob Thompson Unit on Friday night, James Cotton with Roomful of Blues on Saturday and Zac Harmon on Sunday.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. The festival will be held rain or shine.
A complete rundown of the artists and much more information, as well as photos of the venue and some artists bios are available at the website, www.simplyjazzandbluesfestival.com.
