    The West Virginia Department of Agriculture is responsible for monitoring and regulating meat and poultry production in the state, monitoring and protecting crops and aspects of the state’s food supply, training farmers, promoting agriculture and coming up with new agricultural programs for the state.

CHARLESTON, WV — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed 15 people to serve on the board of governors for five colleges and universities in West Virginia.

Bluefield State College: Robert Topping of Princeton and Richard Bezjak and Harold Wells of Bluefield.

Fairmont State University : Dixie Yann and Bryan Towns of Fairmont and John Shirippa of Bridgeport.

Glenville State College: Timothy Butcher of Glenville, Paul "Mike" Fulks, Bridgeport and Mike Forbes of Charleston.

West Liberty University: George Couch and Sandra Chapman of Wheeling and Joe Carey, New York, N.Y.

West Virginia State University: Dr. Ann Brothers Smith of Detroit, Mich., and Tom Susman and Paul Konstanty of Charleston.
