Update: work being done on Hinton's Brick Row

Posted: Updated:

Update: According to Hinton Mayor Joe Blankenship, all but one unit of the brick row is now removed.  Most of the demolition took place Thursday July, 18 and Friday July, 19.

The plan now is to remove the brick and debris and plant grass to level it down and then look into some alternate housing.  However, the future of the area is still up in the air.

Some good news for the people living along Temple Street in Hinton.

According to Hinton Police Chief, Derek Snavely, demolition is underway to rid the city of the eyesore known as Brick Row.

Its been five months since the entire block of apartments burned down.  Since then, the entire area was full of ash and rubble.

A few weeks ago, 59news reported that city government told us it was a waiting game between the owners of the apartments before demolition could begin.  The delay also involved paperwork being filed to have asbestos removed from the site.

There is no word, right now, on how long demolition will take.
