The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services announced on Monday that a boil water advisory was issued for some residents of Beckley.
According to the Beckley Water Company, a broken main water line has caused conditions where the water in the are of Timber Ridge Drive may be contaminated. The advisory includes homes along Timber Ridge Dr. from the intersection with Woodcrest Dr. south to Tanager Place, including all side streets off of East Timber Ridge Dr.
Residents in the area are advised to bring their water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute before it is used to drink, cook with or to wash. The release from Beckley Water Company states that boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
Crews with Beckley Water Company are working to repair the line and re-establish normal conditions. No date was set for a restoration of water service, but officials with Beckley Water Company said they expect to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
For more information residents can contact the Beckley Water Company at 304-255-5121 or 304-763-2691. The Beckley Water Company will let their affected customers know when normal service has been restored.
