9-year-old spends her birthday raising money for Ok. victims
A young girl in Raleigh County showed what it really means to be selfless on Saturday.
The little girl is raising money for Oklahoma tornado victims on her 9th birthday. The birthday girl, Emily Perkins, said she's happy to spend her special day helping those in need.
"I found out there was a tornado in Oklahoma and people lost a lot of homes and I'm trying to save up money so people can have better lives that were in the tornado," Perkins told us.
She held posters in front of Pet Supplies Plus in Beckley which told people she'd do yard work for money to be donated to relief efforts. She is working with a local animal rescue group and is asking for monetary donations and pet products to be shipped through Red Cross and Fed Ex to Moore, Oklahoma.
