A detective with the Beckley Police Department is under investigation, according to the West Virginia State Police.

What we are learning is that State Police were investigating an unrelated crime and some information regarding the alleged misconduct of Beckley Police Detective surfaced. According to Lt. Tony Cummings, the State Police opened an inquiry and could not find any evidence to support these claims that were made.
Information about the claims and the investigation has been handed over to the Beckley Police Chief, Tim Deems.
"I was notified by the State Police last month that they were conducting an inquiry into several allegations of misconduct made against a Beckley officer," said Chief Deems in a release. "Last week I was notified by the State Police that there were no criminal violations found and the inquiry was closed."
The release from Chief Deems also stated that due to the fact there was no criminal conduct found and this is a personnel issue, the name of the Officer or any further information is not being released.
