Our second day of Spring will see some very cold temperatures and bands of snow moving through the area. An area of low pressure continues to spin over the Great Lakes, pushing moisture into the region. Temperatures will remain below freezing for most areas today with the higher terrain seeing highs only in the low to mid 20's.
The snow will continue throughout the day and could be heavy at times making for hazardous travel. Snow started sticking to the roads overnight and with the temperatures remaining cold it could continue to pile up throughout the afternoon. We're not expecting much accumulation but higher terrain could see up to 3" before it all ends overnight. Things will clear from west to east so the lower terrain could see some late day sunshine while the mountains to the east will see the snow continue into the overnight.
Temperatures will plummet tonight to the low to mid teens which means the snow will stick around into the weekend. Friday will be a little better, at least the snow will be gone. We'll see lots of sun as temperatures try to rebound, topping out some 15 degrees below average at 40.
