West Virginia is prepared for Boy Scout Jamboree

Posted: Updated:

The Boy Scout Jamboree is just a few short months away.

On Wednesday the Raleigh County commission on aging heard what still had to be done.

40,000 people are expected at the Summit this summer. The Southern West Virginia preparedness partnership came together to discuss what's left to be done.

People we spoke with say the key to pulling off an event of this magnitude requires a lot of things.

"What we're doing today is working with the community. To host an event like this takes a lot of preparations on multiple levels. We are working with the local municipalities that surround our area as well as the county and state and feds to prepare for this really large event," said Summit Bechtel Reserve's Gary Hartley.

The Jamboree will be held July 15 through the 24th.
