Fayette County Residents Sleep Through Planned Blackout

Fayette County residents in Ansted and Gauley Bridge slept in their homes with no power on the night of August 18th, 2017, but it did not come unplanned. Appalachian Power told 59 News that equipment inside the local substation needed to be replaced.  In order to do so, they had to de-energize the station between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am. Woman Missing Out of Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY (WOWK) - A woman is reported missing out of Lexington, Kentucky. According to a release by the Martin County Sheriff's Department, Mary Parsons, 24, was last seen in the Lexington area of Kentucky. She is described as being 5'4" in height, weighs around 125 pounds, and has green eyes and long brown hair. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of this person, please contact the Martin County Sheriff's Department at 606-298-2828.

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) - Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office have arrested two people in connection to an armed robbery in Poca, WV. According to a criminal complaint, police arrested Nicholas Woodin, 26, of Nitro, and Markayla Stowers, 23, of St. Albans after receiving a report that they had robbed a man and stole his truck at gunpoint.
